Welcome to the
International Backgammon Alliance (IBA)! We appreciate your
interest. We have a wide variety of skilled players and offer
a family environment to play in, as well as the opportunity to find quality
competition. Our tournaments rate highly at Pogo.
All of our players earn Winner
Points for every match won in our tournaments,
with bonus points for the first and second place finishers.
At the end of each month, these points are tallied and the top
players in Winner Points compete in our Top Dog Invitational Tournament. In
addition, all tournament winners from the previous month compete
in our Tournament of Champions Invitational (TOC).
As a result of the growing size of
IBA’s typical tournament, we must request the following:

Please take time to
read the official tournament rules before signing up. Our volunteer Hosts are very busy trying to get
everyone signed up during a tournament, so they have little time left over for general questions.

Please
remember that you are sharing the tiny lobby chat window
with many other players, as well as a Host trying to
communicate tournament instructions to the players.
·
By using
‘whisper mode’ in Pogo, you can communicate with your friends in the lobby and, at the
same time, nothing will appear in the lobby chat.
To whisper, type: /w [playername] [message]. Thank you!
Alternatively, there are convenient Instant Messaging
programs available for private communication or group chats (e.g., MSN Messenger,
AOL’s AIM)

Watch
the lobby very carefully. All answers/instruction from your Host will be posted
there. To follow along with the Host, please highlight the Host name under the
Who’s Here list and click on the flag (looks like a green
P located at the bottom of this list).
This will turn your Host’s comments green.

Signups
begin at least thirty-minutes prior to tournament start, and remain open for a
twenty-minute period. To signup, please sit at Tables 1-4 silently and watch the lobby
for your assignment. To avoid not being accepted into the
tournament, be sure to arrive in the IBA Tournament Room during open signups!
All players arriving after this twenty-minute period, are
considered substitute players, and MAY be assigned following
the tournament start. Please sit at
Tables 1-4 quietly for possible assignment, and watch
carefully for the Host’s posts to the lobby.
