My computer locks up or disconnects when I am in Pogo.  Is there anything I can do?

Although the IBA Team is much better at hosting than fixing computers, there are some things we have found that help us.

Pogo is a java site which uses a wide bandwidth.  Simultaneous use of other programs that also use a wide bandwidth (e.g. ICQ) can create major connections problems.  
Regular computer maintenance is very important.  Defragging your Windows system is a must.  I defrag my system every two days.
Be sure to keep your browser cache emptied.  We do so before beginning to host and prior to returning any time we boot from the site.
Clear your java:

Internet Explorer:  Click on VIEW, click on INTERNET OPTIONS and then click on the ADVANCED tab.  Scroll down to find the JAVA VM section. Remove the checkmark in front of "Java JIT Compiler Enabled."  Remove the checkmark in front of "Java Logging Enabled." Click on APPLY in the lower right hand corner of the INTERNET OPTIONS tab.  Click on OK in the lower left hand corner of the INTERNET OPTIONS tab.

Netscape:  Click on COMMUNICATOR. Click on TOOLS. Click on JAVA CONSOLE. Click on CLEAR and click on CLOSE.

Increase your browser memory:

Internet Explorer: To increase memory to the Internet Explorer browser, go to where you clear Internet Temporary Files: VIEW/INTERNET OPTIONS/GENERALTAB. Under TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES there is a button, it will say SETTINGS. Open settings and you will see a bar that you move to the right. This will give you one hundred percent  memory to the browser. Default setting is no more than five percent, so you can see that by increasing to one hundred percent, the browser will not crash as much.

Netscape: To increase memory for Netscape Browser, go to where you clear the cache memory: EDIT/PREFERENCES/ADVANCED/CACHE. There you will see numbers in two rectangle boxes: "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disc Cache".  Use 99999 in both boxes.
